Insecurity now a norm? 200 murdered in Zamfara.
The clash between military airstrikes and armed bandits have led to the loss of alleged 200 lives in the North Western Nigerian state of Zamfara with lives and properties burnt down, the open fire between the Nigerian army and gunmen led to the flight of the residents of the villages which led some some to their early graves, some of the successful escapees who came back to the village after the clash on Tuesday and Thursday returned to report the great number of deaths even after the state government had reported 58 people dead.
One of the community leader who was interviewed by the guardian recounted that a number of 143 people who had been killed by the bandits had been buried while another young man who lost his wife and three children in the attack said that 154 people had been buried including several armed vigilantes who shot at the gunmen bringing the death toll to a total number of more than 200 individuals as confirmed by the people.
This being on the coverage of 10 villages with an ongoing search for more bodies that have not been seen and accounted for, and further report states that more people have been killed by suspected bandits and this has left Zamfara state in the midst of a big crisis and the rural areas a danger zone.
The President, Muhammadu Buhari had said in a statement that the military has gotten more equipment to enable them catch this bandits and their gang members who have left the people in perpetual fear and agony through their inhumane activities in the locality and its environment.
